Top Ten Tuesdays #3: Not Sure I’ll Read

top 10 tuesday

Top Ten Books I’m Not Sure I Want To Read – books you may have bought but aren’t sure if you are into it anymore, books you wanted to read but heard mixed things about, hyped books you aren’t sure about, etc. [Hosted byΒ Broke & Bookish]

I’ve been dealing with this more and more since I started blogging. Normally, I’d rely on browsing Goodreads, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon to get book recommendations. I would just judge the books by their cover and plot summary, then decide if I wanted to read it. Sometimes friends would recommend books, but I largely made book-buying and reading decisions by myself. Since reading other book blogs and their reviews is a major part of my day now, my influences have been swayed so much! I constantly see books I normally never would have picked up, but decide they sound interesting after reading someone’s review. The opposite could happen too: I want to read a book but someone’s review is very negative and it turns me off. Here are ten books I’m not sure if I want to read or not. I used three categories for this one: peer pressure, gathering dust, and open-ended.

Peer Pressure

The books other reviewers seemed to really enjoy, but don’t appeal to me. I feel like I may read them because of the positive reviews but am not sure yet.
Magnolia by Kristi Cook / Breathe, Annie, Breathe by Miranda Kenneally / Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins / The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes

Gathering Dust

The books I bought a long time ago but haven’t been motivated to start yet – especially because starting a new series is more daunting than a standalone.
Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld / The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare / Matched series by Ally Condie

Open-Ended

The books or series that I started but have yet to finish for some reason. Either I couldn’t get into it, or it’s been too long since I started it andΒ haven’t gotten around to finishing it.
Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter / All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness / Beautiful Disaster series by Jamie McGuire

Have you read any of these? Which should I read and which should I ignore??
